Art Journal Page - Watercolor Flower - ArTsY MoNdAy

It's Monday again! For today's ArTsY MoNdAy, I am sharing another art journal page. I never get tired of making art journals.

I have been doing lots of watercolor painting lately and I wanted a way to use the watercolor painting in my art journal page. First I was going to just paint with watercolor directly without sketching flower out first, but then I realized it's going to be hard to apply the acrylic background around it later on without an online to follow. That's why I sketched out the flowers first and painted the background around it. On this page, the flowers are the main focus. So the background is kept clean and simple.

Because of the simplicity of the background, I drew a border around the page to frame it a little. I wish I had a little glitter pen that could add some shine to the black part of the border. That would look amazing! If you had the chance to do that, please let me know!!

Tip: To create the beautiful watercolor look, drop in different colors while it's wet.

Art Journal Page - Shine Bright - ArTsY MoNdAy

Hi friends!

Today's art journal page is inspired by the beautiful galaxy. From reference photos, I saw different shades of purple and blue with some yellows. Therefore it's natural to add those colors to my journal background. Galaxy pictures or paintings always lead me to a very relaxed state. The thought of how endless and how colorful the universe really is, oddly calms me down. Yes I am fully aware of how weird I am, lol. I guess I can call art journaling a somewhat art therapy even though technically it isn't one. But if it keeps you calm, helps you find yourself, or just purely fun time for you, I guess it's a therapy in some way.

For this art journal page, I used BrushO powder watercolor first. But I realized that the colors aren't dark enough, so I added some watercolors too. To break apart the busy colors in the background, I added some white texture using a Tim Holtz Stencil. By doing so, the gold stars will show up a lot better and won't look like they are blended in with the background.

Here are the photos, scroll down for video tutorial as well.

PRIMA DAY BLOGHOP!!

Hi friends!!

Today is PRIMA DAY! I am so excited. Prima has a ton of inspirations just for you! If you hopped here from Prima blog, don't forget to head back to Prima Blog and hop to other designer team member's blog to check out their GORGEOUS work!

Here it's how it works, on Prima blog. We have a photo from each designer, a link to their blog or social media, and a little sneak peak of their Prima day project. Just click on their blog link to reveal each gorgeous inspiring project!

My goal is to make a very colorful layout but still quite simple and quick to put together. Because I used minimal amount of paper and embellishment layering but still want the look of different layers. I added the three strips of colors on the background with some black dots doodling. Adding bold colors to a simple project can really make the project pop.

I created a video tutorial, please scroll down for tutorial and product list :)

Prima Flower Card

Hi friends!

Today I am sharing a card with the theme of changing the color of your flowers. Don't forget head over to Prima's blog to see other designer's projects on this topic. There are so many inspirations!!

This theme has really challenged me to come up with some different fun ways to color flowers. I used seven total techniques to change the colors of my flowers on the card. I love the mixed media look colored flowers have. Also they give you a distressed and grungy look. These flowers really spiced up the whole project.  Don't forget to check out the tutorial for all the steps. It's a very easy to follow video.

Art Journal - We Found Love - ArTsY MoNdAy

Hi friends

Happy Monday! I have a new artsy Monday project for you too today. This art journal page is inspired by the two characters on the magazine page I used to collage as background on this page.
I used my old Chinese magazines and I saw two Characters says Love, and it instantly gave me the ideas of what I want to do on this project.

I re-discovered some product in my stash too this time, and I decided that for every artsy Monday project, I will keep re-discovering the product in my stash. Over the years I have "hoarded" many things. Sometimes after a product is being used couple times, I will just tucked them back in the corner. Since art journal is really meant to be playful and a place to do whatever you want, I want to shop in my neglected stash and play with fun techniques.

Check out my video for product used. I listed them in the description box.

Autumn / Fall Art Journal - ArTsY MoNdAy

Hi friends

Fall has officially Arrived! Everything is now turning into the gorgeous fall color. Who doesn't like those gorgeous golden leaves. So I decided to make an art journal about it.

I made a video tutorial on how I made it and you will see a lot of covering the previous layer I put down. Don't feel bad about covering what you have put down. It's all part of the creating process. This journal is not planned at all so I just went with the creative juice and change my mind as I go alone. I also listed what I used in the video description box :)

The leaves on the journal are cut outs from stamped images. Those leaf stamps have been in my stash since the day one but I rarely use them. You know how sometimes you just have something you don't use a whole lot and you forget it even exists? Thats how it is with the leaf stamps. So I re-discovered it in my stash and they are perfect for my fall theme art journal. The photos are taken with my iPhone. Not the most beautiful project photo but my camera died and I was in a hurry. My phone is my last resort. Hope these photos are good enough, lol!
